Officials of the Income Tax Department conducted raids at actress Anushka’s residence at Hyderabad yesterday.Anushka is among one of the top actresses in both Tamil and Telugu film industries.
The raid comes at a time when some press reports in neighbouring State claimed that the lanky actress’ fee per film had breached the Re.1 crore mark. A team of officials from the Income Tax department descended at Anuskha’s sprawling residence at Hyderabad’s posh Jubilee Hills locality at around 02:00 p.m.
The raids went on for more than an hour during when each and every millimeter of the residence was searched. Anushka was very much at her residence, along with her parents, when the raids were conducted. Unconfirmed reports say that some ‘important’ documents along with some bank pass books and some money in ‘hard cash’ were recovered from the actress’ residence.
Incidentally, this is the second such raid conducted at the actress’ place in less than an year. When contacted, Anushka’s manager Raghu denied that any such raid was conducted at all. He said that the raids took place only at the house of an industrialist who is the actress’ next-door neighbour.
