Kolaveri bags YouTube Gold Award

The song Why this kolaveri di from Aishwarya Dhanush’s debut film 3, starring Dhanush and Shruti Haasan, has gone viral worldwide. No Tamil film song has created such a wave in the international audio market.

The catchy tune has been composed by Anirudh, the 21-year-old debutant music director. While news of the song leaked online did its rounds, the makers decided to launch it as a single track. It proved to be a great decision as the song took the nation by storm.
The making of Kolaveri Di was uploaded on YouTube, and within hours it went viral. The trippy number got nearly 17 million views and caught the imagination of the youth who made it a sort of anthem.
Now, You Tube has honoured the track with a Gold Award for getting the most number of hits. The prestigious TIME magazine wrote – “Perhaps the ballad’s universal theme is part of its appeal – apparently it’s about a guy who’s been dumped by his girlfriend. The song is also notable for its pretty nonsensical use of words, employing a unique language probably best described as ‘Tamglish’ – mixing Tamil and English.”

Osthe Movie Preview

Silambarasan’s yet another remake flick is ready to hit the screens. The actor, who did Vaanam, a remake of Telugu movie Vedam earlier this year, set his eyes on Bollywood movie Dabangg and subsequently expressed his wish to star in the Tamil version. As he desired, Mohan Apparao bagged the rights and launched the movie, Osthe in no time with Gilli fame Dharani helming the project.

As far as leading ladies of the film are concerned, the makers of the film approached Sonakshi Sinha, Sonam Kapoor and others. But the B-town babes turned down the offers for various reasons. However, the movie bosses finalised Richa Gangopadhyay to play the role of a village belle, which was played by Sonakshi Sinha in Dabangg. Githan Ramesh, Richa Gangopadhyay, Revathi, Nassar and Sonu Sood were signed for other key roles.
Osthe has a masala story, which is fabricated with family drama and heroism to much extent. Silambarasan has donned the role of a corrupted cop, who helps the needy. While Nassar and Revathi play the characters of his parents, Ganesh will be seen in the role of Richa’s drunkard father. The interesting part of the cast is that Bollywood actress Mallika Sherawat has shaken her legs for an item song ‘Kalasala’. In the original, Mallika Arora Khan popularised the item number, ‘Munni badnaam hui’.
Coming to the audio, S Thaman has provided some catchy tunes, which has already become hit among mass. ‘Osthe Maamey’, ‘Neduvaali’ and ‘Kalasala Kalasala’ are the picks of the album. In fact, the success of the music has added fuel to the expectations of the audience. However, Osthe is all set to hit the screens tomorrow.

Amidst hype around his ‘Kolaveri di’, there comes an exciting news about Dhanush’s Bollywood dreams. If everything goes right, the Tamil actor, who is gearing up to make his directorial debut in Bollywood, will direct the Bachchans.

Rumour mills are connecting this with Dhanush’s Bollywood movie and his meeting with the Bachchans have added fuel to the growing speculations about their collaboration for the proposed project.
However, Dhanush’s Bollywood movie is expected to take off in mid-2012.
