Simbus Osthe for December 2nd

mbus forthcoming movie Osthe is all set for a December 2nd release. The flick has been awarded with a U certificate by the censor board people after a recent screening. Osthi’s release date had been long in the waiting right after its Diwali postponement, with theaters jam-packed with 3 big releases in Suryas 7aam Arivu, Rajinikanth-Shahrukh Khan Ra.One and Vijay’s mass offering Velayudham.

The Diwali slots were quite unfavorable for another release in Dhanush’s romantic drama Mayakkam Enna. However the confirmation regarding the release date for Mayakkam Enna on November 25th had been announced quite a while ago. Now with Osthe up for release December 2nd, the clash between the 2 flicks seems to have been safely avoided. Osthe a remake of the 2010 blockbuster Hindi film Dabangg, stars Simbu as the 6 pack cop in place of Salman Khan in the original.The song Kalasala is much awaited by all masala lovers who are expecting Mallika Sherawat to do an even hotter version of the Bollywood fav item number “Munni Badnaam”. Ban on DAM 999-MDMK,PMK Demand

MDMK and PMK political parties earlier today have demanded a ban on the release of Indo-Dubai film ‘Dam 999′ to be released by Warner Bros.

Dam 999 is based on Banqiao dam disaster of 1975 and in current affairs closely depicts a could be scenario of the collapse of century-old Mullaiperiyar Dam over which Tamil nadu is locked in a row with Kerala.

MDMK leader and chief Vaiko, in a statement, said the film is financed by Keralites, starring Indian and Hollywood actors and directed by Sohan Roy has been named ‘Dam 999′ referring to the legal rights held by Tamil Nadu over the Mullaiperiyar dam for 999 years.

Vaiko also conveyed he has appealed to the South Indian Film Chambers, Tamil Film Producers Council and the South Indian Artistes Association not to allow the screening of the film in Tamil Nadu.If cinema houses in the state screen the film, his party would organise demonstrations against it, he said.

PMK founder Dr S Ramadoss urged Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa to take up the matter with the Centre. The dam, located in the Iddukki district of Kerala, is under the control of Tamil Nadu Government and meets the irrigation needs of farmers in southern districts bordering Kerala. While Kerala had proposed construction of a new dam to replace the old structure saying it posed a danager to the people living downstream.

On this demand by the TN regional parties Kerala Water Resources Minister P.J. Joseph, stressed the state of Kerala cannot wait any more for the construction of a new dam at Mullaperiyar,the existing dam has become weaker after the recent earthquakes.This is an issue that affects 30 lakh people,. Tamil Nadu should loosen its stand against a new dam and the issue should be discussed by the Parliament immediately.

Bala’s Eriyum Thanal Movie from December

Ace director Bala is now in pre-production work of his new film.

The film tentatively titled Eriyum Thanal will have the comparatively new Atharva, son of late actor Murali as the hero.

Bala works best with newcomers and actors who have not been familiar to new age realism. Eriyum Thanal is adapted from a Malayalam novel and it will be a quickie that Bala plans to shoot and release under six months.

Eriyum Thanal tells the story of a family, who goes through troubled times due to the vagaries of one of the son’s in the family.

Adharva will play the troubled son and the protagonist in the film. Two top character actors are being pencilled for the role of the father and mother.

GV Prakash for the first time is teaming up with Bala for the film. Eriyum Thanal shoot will start in a small town in Tamil Nadu from December.

Vijay’s role in AR Murugadoss’s film

In the AR Murugadoss film, Vijay is playing a Mumbai dada, reports some sources in Kollywood. Though this fact has not been confirmed either by AR Murugadoss or Vijay, the news has started to make rounds.

Mani Ratnam’s sold Thalapathy Movie rights

The 1991 Mani Ratnam classic Thalapathy starring Rajinikanth, Mammootty and Shobhana, remake rights in Hindi has been purchased by Bollywood producer Bharath Shah.

Bharath Shah had co-produced Mani Ratnam’s Madhavan- Shalini romantic musical Alaipayuthey in Hindi as Saathiya with Vivek Oberoi and Rani Mukherjee.

Thalapathy had extraordinary music by Ilayaraja. The theme of the film is loosely based on the friendship between Karna and Duryodhana in epic Mahabharata. Internationally noted cinematographer Santosh Sivan, made his debut in the Tamil with the film.

The Hindi remake will be directed by Puja Jatinder Singhwho has assisted the producer for his various films. The shoot will start in early 2012.

Highcourt upholds Prashanth’s divorce

Actor Prashanth can heave a sigh of relief.

The Madras High Court has confirmed a family court order and granting divorce to Prashanth.

The actor had married Grihalakshmi in 2005 but it was proved that she had suppressed her earlier marriage registered in November 1998.

A division bench of Madras High Court comprising of Justice K Mohan Ram and Justice GM Akbar Ali said: “ The suppression of the marriage registered between Grihalakshmi and another person (Narayan Venu Prasad) is a material fact amounting to fraud and thereby render the marriage (with Prashant) voidable.”

Mugamoodi go on floors From November 30

Director Mysskin’s Mugamoodi with Jiiva in the lead is all set to go on floors on November 30, 2012. In this film, Jiiva will play the role of a super hero, which means he is all set to become Tamil cinema’s first super hero. Veteran actor Nageswarra Rao and Prakash Raj will also play prominent roles in the film. Mugamoodi will be the first super hero movie for UTV in Tamil.

Narain, who has earlier worked with Mysskin in the blockbuster Anjaathe, will play the villain. Narain and Jiiva recently underwent special martial arts training with experts flown in from China. Femina Miss India finalist Pooja Hegde will play the role of a journalist and K aka Krishnakumar will compose music for the film. Sathya will take care of camera while Gagin is the editor.

A super hero lies in every one of us; this forms the basic crux of Mugamoodi. It is said that consultants from IIT will create hi-end gadgets for the film and the super hero costumes will be designed by select teams from NIFT.

The film is expected to grace theatres in 2012.

Bala’s Eriyum Thanal Movie First Look

Bala the National Award Winning director is getting ready for his next project Eriyum Thanal starring Adharva. This Malayalam novel which has been translated into Tamil by an author called Daniel, is titled as Eriyum Thanal.

Bala who is known for dealing Sensitive and Emotional subjects, after reading the Novel got the copyrights to bring it to life and also kept the same title.

The novel is based on a couple who have a child and the trials and tribulations they face in bringing their child up. Adharva plays the Son’s role and other roles are yet to be finalised. Also Bala is targetting this film for International Film Festivals.

This time Bala has roped GV Prakash to play the tunes and the musician took it as an honor to work with him. Adharva is getting shaped up for the role. The First Look of Eriyum Thanal is expected in a short period of time.

Ajith And Vishnu Join For Panjaa remake?

Panjaa is Pawan Kalyan’s upcoming action film directed by Vishnuwardan of Ajith’s Billa, Sarvam, Arindhum Ariyamalum fame. Ajith and Vishnu share a great bond, it was Vishnu who was to shoot Ajith’s Billa 2 but things changed.
