Karthi Not villains

Karthi’s forthcoming political satire, ‘Saguni’, will do away from clichd racy political thrillers where the hero beats up goons and baddies or dons the role of a politician to teach his villain a lesson.
While speaking to a media publication recently, the director confirmed this. Karthi, after facing tussles in his village, moves to Chennai where certain circumstances lead him to opt for politics.
“Although people perceive the very name Saguni to a person who is cunning, we can’t forget that Saguni is one of the most intelligent persons in an epic, that’s why the director chose this title for the film, as it is apt for Karthi’s character”, say sources in the know. “Karthi’s character has negative shades in the film, but in the end, he does it all for the good of the society”, they further add. In fact, it is said that his character, at certain portions will remind one of corporate lobbyist Nira Radia, of 2G spectrum scam.
Quoted the director, “The film doesn’t have a clichd climax of the hero smashing up the goons. It’s a different screenplay and I wrote the script keeping Karthi in mind”.
With good on-screen chemistry between Karthi and Pranitha, a political satire without villains and Karthi in part grey shades, ‘Saguni’ sure looks like a promising venture

Trisha Confident of Bollywood Re-entry

Actress Trisha may be happy with Mankatha turning a blockbuster but still the failure of Khatta Meetha, her debut film in Bollywood, is a sore. She wants to make a comeback in Bollywood, although she has been successful in Tamil and Telugu.
Trisha says that though producers have been waiting for her dates while she was acting in Khatta Meetha, none of them turned up after the film turned a failure. She was very disappointed with it but still she wants to make a comeback.
She does not want to feel that she has lost but is determined to make her way into Bollywood. Manmadhan Ambu may have bombed but Mankatha sure gave her some mileage in the Tamil film industry.
She is a busy actress in Telugu too but Bollywood is the ultimate measure of success for Trisha. While heroines like Genelia and Asin have earned a good place at Bollywood, Trisha has still not done so. So, where will she be? Kollywood or Bollywood?

Simbu's 'Podaa Podi', which is in the making for a longtime now, is nearing completion. The shooting is almost over but for a song, which will be canned after Diwali. "The movie will sure hit the screens for Valentines Day," says a source very close to the unit.
"The song is a romantic number and the comfort level between both the actors is good and this is expected to result in a great chemistry between them," the source further says, adding: "The film has shaped up as an interesting romantic entertainer with never seen before sort of dance sequences."
Directed by Vignesh, 'Podaa Podi' has actress-danseuse Shobana in a pivotal role. "Her character forms important part of the script and she is happy about making a comeback on big screen with Podaa Podi. STR too is thrilled to have her on board," the source informs.
At present, Simbu is busy with multiple projects, including 'Osthi', 'Vettai Mannan' and 'Kettavan'. "His focus will turn on Podaa Podi once he completes the remaining portions of Osthi," we learn. 'Podaa Podi' is the debut film of Varalaxmi, daughter of Sarath Kumar.

This also means its Simbu vs. Jiiva at the box-office for Valentines Day 2012, for it may be recalled that Jiiva's 'Neethane En Ponvasantham' directed by Gautham Menon is touted to see light of the day on Valentines Day.

Mayakkam Enna Movie – Preview Online

Cast: Dhanush, Richa Gangopadhyay, Sunder Ramu, Mathivanan Rajendran, Pooja Balu, SoniBarring, Rajiv Choudhry
Direction: Selvaraghavan
Production: Aum Productions
Music: GV Prakash
‘Mayakkam Enna’ brings back to us the hit brother combo - director Selvaraghavan and National Award winning Dhanush. All their earlier offerings are blockbusters belonging to various genres and the expectations on this film are skyrocketing as well.
‘Mayakkam Enna’ stars Dhanush and Richa Gangopadhyay in the lead roles whereas renowned photographer Sundar Ramu who is foraying into Tamil cinema through this film, plays the second lead and Dhanush’s pal.
Music is composed by GV Prakash and four out of five tracks and the theme music have become chartbusters. The colloquial lyrics of ‘Kadhal En Kadhal…’ and ‘Oda Oda Dhooram…’ have set a new fad in the industry.
Selvaraghavan initially went on-board with Dhanush and Andrea in the lead roles with the title ‘Irandam Ulagam’, and when Andrea walked out of the project, Richa was roped in and the title was changed to ‘Mayakkam Enna’. Selva initially reported that the film’s script had undergone minor changes; however, it later came to light that the two films are entirely different projects and Selva will get on-board his ‘Irandam Ulagam’ post ME.
‘Mayakkam Enna’ is said to showcase Dhanush in four different stages of his life and sources close to the unit vouch that the star has pulled out great performance. He plays a photographer in this film and while many considered the film to be a feel good entertainer, the teaser had changed it all as they showcase a conflict of emotions between Dhanush and Richa.
Richa’s character is touted to be a bold role, on the lines of Sonia Aggarwal’s characters in ‘Kadhal Koden’ and ’7G Rainbow Colony’. Selva has always paid equal importance to the female characters in his films and ‘Mayakkam Enna’ will be no exception.
The film will see light of the day this November.
